µg/mL to nM converter (ug/ml ↔ nM)
Convert a mass concentration (ng/mL, µg/mL, mg/mL) to a molar concentration (pM, nM, µM, mM) and back. Enter a molecular weight or pick a catalog compound. Laboratory unit arithmetic only.
Type in either concentration box; the other one fills in.
Formulas
- µg/mL → nM: nM = µg/mL ÷ MW (g/mol) × 106
- nM → µg/mL: µg/mL = nM × MW (g/mol) ÷ 106
- Shortcut: µg/mL ÷ MW in kDa = µM. A 1 µg/mL solution of a 5 kDa peptide is 0.2 µM (200 nM).
FAQ
How do I convert µg/mL to nM?
Divide the mass concentration by the molecular weight and scale the units: nM = (µg/mL ÷ MW in g/mol) × 1,000,000. Example: 1 µg/mL of a 1,000 g/mol compound is 1,000 nM (1 µM).
How do I convert nM to µg/mL?
Reverse the formula: µg/mL = nM × MW (g/mol) ÷ 1,000,000. Example: 500 nM of a 3,000 g/mol peptide is 1.5 µg/mL.
Why do I need the molecular weight?
µg/mL measures mass per volume and nM measures molecules per volume. The molecular weight links the two, so the same µg/mL gives a different nM for every compound.
Is µg/mL the same as mg/L?
Yes. 1 µg/mL = 1 mg/L = 1 ppm in dilute aqueous solution (by mass, assuming a density of about 1 g/mL).
